Convert DVDs and Video to play on your iPod Video Support for the iPod Video was added to the Wizard in version 4. Using the Pocket DVD Wizard you can make backup copies of your DVD, MPEG, AVI and DivX?video, and then play them on your iPod Video, or most other devices such as a Playstation Portable, video mobile cell phone, Pocket PC or Palm. Converting DVD content for the iPodDoing the actual conversion is very easy. If you don't already have the Pocket DVD Wizard, download and installed it, then simply start the Wizard using the icon on your Desktop. You will see a large 'Select DVD' button, which you need to press, then you will be asked to select the DVD drive and choose a track from the DVD. Once you have selected the DVD you want to convert, the Wizard will take you through a few more options, step by step, explaining each one on the way (you do not need to be a technical genius!) At the stage where the Wizard asks you which device you want to convert for, select the 'Apple iPod Video' option. The software will then process the DVD (it usually takes 'real time' so a 90 minute track will take about 90-100 minutes to complete) and create a new video file for you. If you have a long DVD to convert you can leave your PC processing the DVD overnight, there is an option to turn off the pc on completion. Adding new video files to the iPodOnce you have the newly converted video file, you will want to add it to your iPod. Again, this is very easy, you just use iTunes. Start up iTunes, click on the File menu, then select 'Add to Library' and pick the video file created by the Pocket DVD Wizard. iTunes will then load the video file, and next time you connect your iPod to your PC (or Mac) the video file will be transferred to the iPod for you. Free Trial VersionWe don't expect you to buy the Pocket DVD Wizard without trying it first, there is a free trial version available for download right now on this website. The trial version lets you to convert 5 minutes of DVD video so you can see just how easy the software is to use, and just how good the results are (and they are very good!). You can also try it with another other handheld or mobile devices you own. Why not give it a test drive now?
Any problems? The only problem you may have is if you have an iPod with the older firmware, or an older copy of iTunes or the Pocket DVD Wizard. We have optimised the Wizard to work with the latest versions of the iPod Video and iTunes, so if you find iTunes asking you to re-convert the file, or saying it cannot copy the video to your iPod, try updating the firmware on your iPod and make sure you have the latest version of iTunes. Apple iPod Firmware UpdatesLike most other portable media products, the iPod has a firmware update available. The latest version of the Wizard at the time of writing is v4.6 and this supports iPod Video players with the newer Apple 1.1.1 firmware. As Apple update their firmware, we will be updating our software to make the most of the player. All upgrades are free for registered users of our software. If you do not already have the latest firmware from Apple for your iPod, we recommend you download and install it to make the most from your device. You can download the latest ipod firmware directly from the Apple.com website. |
